Surviving Step 1: Countdown – the Weeks Prior
23-4 weeks prior to Test Day
This is a great time to take a self-assessment. If you haven’t done a full-length simulation of the Step 1 exam, I recommend you do that now. Take special care to review your practice exam and identify any remaining weaknesses (e.g. antiarrhythmics, GI pathology). With 3-4 weeks left, you should have plenty of time to work in a little extra review in these areas.

Surviving Step 1: Test-taking Strategies
0As you prepare for the USMLE Step 1, one of the things you should be doing every day is practice questions. I firmly believe in the importance of using a question bank, so I’m going to present my test-taking strategies with the assumption that you’re using one. Clearly, time management is going to be an important issue for most people, so there will be a considerable emphasis on methods for maximizing your use of time.
